Golden Trout: “Oh the Places You’ll Go”

The golden trout has the reputation of being one of the most beautiful but also the most difficult to find trout in the world. They live in some of the most beautiful places. Small streams and glacial lakes at 10,000 – 12,000 feet. Although not native to these areas, they have thrived. These trout live in mostly pristine waters above treeline surrounded by rugged mountains, stunning wildflowers and rugged terrain. Here is an ode to the famous Dr. Seuss:Oh the places you’ll go!”

“You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can direct yourself in any direction you choose.”

“It’s opener out there, in the open air.”

“And when things start happening, don’t worry. Do not boil. Just go right away. It will start happening too.”

“You’ll be on your way up! You will see wonderful views. You will join the high flyers. That fly high.”

“I’m sorry to say it, but, unfortunately, it’s true that you can have crashes.”

“It is not easy, I fear you will find, for a high-minded person to decide.”

“I’m afraid that you will sometimes play lonely games as well. Games you can’t win because you’ll be playing against yourself.”

“Onwards and forwards you will walk. And I know you’ll go far and face your problems whatever they are.”

“So be sure when you tread. Tread with great care and tact, and remember that life is a great balancing act.”

“Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… Go on your way!”

“And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.) DAMAGE, YOU WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS!”

The golden trout is the reward, but the journey is what keeps you coming back for more.
