Outdoor enthusiasts, from fishermen to hunters and more, have used UTVs to make the most of their time outdoors. For those who want a perfect blend of performance and function, there’s a new, quieter option. Until the discovery of the Volcon Stag, performance always came at a cost—noise. A bigger engine and more horsepower invariably comes with some amount of engine noise. The all-electric Stag blends horsepower, comfort, capability and more into a package that opens up a new world of outdoor adventure without the engine drone ringing in your ears.
Electric UTVs are on the rise, especially for those who want noise-free performance. Imagine pulling into your hunting area and having your UTV notify every deer in the woods that you are there. The optional four-wheel drive Stag provides the ride with only the soft hum of the electric motor and the screech of the tires on the ground. It was designed and built by outdoor enthusiasts in Round Rock, Texas using fully waterproof electrical components built by General Motors. The Stag produces a class-leading 125 HP and 265 FT LB of torque, and if you choose the Overboost mode and paddle shift package, you can bump up to over 140 horses, allowing you to run up to 80 MPH. Want that in a gas engine and you need a turbocharger and a lot more noise.
The best thing about an electric motor is that there is no lag as the motor builds up to maximum RPM. You get full torque and power usability right from the start, giving you better connection, acceleration and traction. It gives you the power you need, when you need it, to clear trail obstacles, climb rocky terrain, and reach places others fear to tread. The engine operates in three modes, with ECO being a smooth delivery for optimal power consumption, Sport mode for aggressive driving and quicker acceleration, and Tow mode giving you full access to torque up to 2,000 pounds of towing capability.
The Stag has an expected range of over 100 miles on a single charge. The car comes with a 7.2 kW on-board charger that allows the vehicle to be fully charged in less than 6 hours using Volcon’s Level 2 charging. This makes that remote hunting spot and/or fishing hole completely accessible.
There is plenty of room to transport your gear and family for the adventure. The Stag seats four with comfortable seating and full frame protection. The sturdy roll cage helps you have the confidence to explore more powerful terrain, allowing you to worry less about where you’re going and more on why you’re going there—because you can. The fixed cargo area offers 13.4 cubic feet of space and up to 1,550 pounds of capacity, but the Stag does something most other UTVs don’t—you can expand the cargo area by folding down the rear passenger compartment. . This allows up to 26.7 cubic feet, giving you more flexibility to bring gear for hunting camp or tow fishing kayaks for a backwater adventure on that little lake you’ve been meaning to explore.
Enjoy the journey as much as the adventure
One thing the Volcon Stag does better than any comparable machine is to provide maximum comfort and ride quality. The Stag rolls on BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires wrapped around beaded wheels. These tires provide optimal traction while actually helping to preserve battery life. The bead wheels work to reduce flats, so you can be sure the Stag will get you there and back home. Helping with ride comfort and feel, the Stag has fully independent front and rear suspension and adjustable shocks to handle the roughest terrain. The shocks allow you to adjust the ride quality to your personal preference, which is a big plus. Who wants to go back to a secluded deer camp, but the journey takes all the fun out of it? The Stag’s class-leading suspension makes it a thing of the past.
The Volcon Stag has a driver-centric cockpit that has been developed with two innovative displays that offer what Volcon calls Human Machine Integration, or HMI. The main thing here is to provide full control and visibility for the driver over everything that happens with the car.
And what’s the point of making memories if you can’t relive them later? The Stag has two built-in cameras and on-board hardware to process video clips of the ride. There is a special bar for additional camera mounts, so you can add your own cameras and film every aspect of the ride. Whether you’re rolling through the Texas countryside, scaling a mountain in West Virginia, clawing your way through a scenic overlook in Montana, or blasting through a sand dune in Oregon, the Volcon Stag is equipped to do more than just take you there in style. and comfort, but help you record the journey to relive for years to come.
